FLYFISHING IN ONE OF ENGLANDS MOST BEAUTIFUL LOCATIONS
Rockbourne Trout Fishery is located in the New Forest just on the edge of the picturesque village of Rockbourne. The six lakes are spread over 55 acres of unspoilt woodland and pasture land with the river Sweatford Waters running through the valley and on into the Avon. The lower reaches of the river are classed as an area of outstanding natural beauty and indeed Rockbourne is one of the most peaceful, secluded and beautiful spots to fly fish in the country.
Each lake has its own individual character and requires particular fly fishing tactics. Each lake has variations in depth ranging from 3 meters to 5 meters. Lakes are bordered by mature trees and in part by reeds, all providing excellent sport.
PRISTINE AND INTIMATE CHALK STREAM FISHING
Rockbourne boasts a pristine one mile stretch of chalk stream fishing. Sweatfords Water meanders through the depths of ancient woodland, and is a tributary of the famous Hampshire Avon. There is an abundance of fly life and some exquisite wild brown trout, providing a real sporting challenge for even the most experienced fly fisher.
YEAR ROUND FIRST CLASS SPORT
Spring fed, crystal clear water provides abundant natural fly life and excellent opportunities for stalking trout. The springs feeding the lakes ensure near constant temperature and thus year round sport.
TOP QUALITY STOCK
Our lakes are always very well stocked with excellent quality, fighting fit, rainbow, brown, blue, liliac and sandy trout in addition to arctic char in winter. Fish are held in stock ponds with fast flowing water before being stocked in the lakes and are supremely fit and lean.
To provide you with the best possible sport all lakes are fully stocked with fish in prime condition and of between 2 ½ and 10 lbs. We also stock fish up to 20 lbs, and the fishery record currently stands at 19 lbs.
Rockbourne offers the perfect venue to relax and unwind . Our new purpose built lodge offers a breakfast menu, light lunch and drinks from the bar as well as hot and cold drinks.
The lodge is situated by the lakes which provides a stunning backdrop for some refreshment and relaxation. Anglers can choose to sit in the snug by the wood burning stove, in the restaurant or outside on the decking or on the grassed area.
SWAP YOUR CATCH FOR SMOKED TROUT
Anglers are welcome to swap freshly caught fish for a packet of cold smoked trout for a small fee of £2 per fish swapped.
